National Archives extension

Johan Celsing arkitektkontor has won the invited competition for the extension
of Riksarkivet, the National Archives, at Marieberg in Stockholm. The winning
scheme presented a separate new building that will contain offices and public
spaces as well as 47 apartments overlooking the surrounding city and
waterways. The new building has a glazed foyer on the lower ground floor
connecting to the old archive. In between the new and old building will be a
new out-door public space that open to adjoining streets and pedestrian
parkways.

Inauguration of the new hotel and exhibitions at Djurgården

The new hotel and exhibition building at Djurgården, Stockholm, has been
inaugurated. It houses The Swedish Music Hall of Fame, Abba The Museum
and Melody Hotel and Restaurant. The inauguration took place in the open
space in front of the building with live music performances by several swedish
artists.
Celsing lecture at London Met. 29th of April

Hotel and Exhibtions at Djurgården Stockholm

Image from the construction site at Djurgården. The facade and balustrade is in
glue laminated wood. The building will contain a hotel, a restaurant, and
exhibition space for 'Swedish Music hall of Fame' and 'Abba The Museum.' It is
scheduled to be completed in May.
Eastern Cemetery Malmö

The office is working on the reconstruction of the canopy in front of St Knut's
Chapel at the Eastern Cemetery in Malmö, originally designed by Sigurd
Lewerentz. A full scale prototye of a part of the canapoy has been built at the
site.
Building permission granted for the new mosque at Rinkeby

On the 13th of December, the Urban Planning Committee of Stockholm
granted building permission for the new mosque at Rinkeby. Located in the
northern part of Stockholm, the mosque will have a prayer hall with a capacity
of about 1500 people. The building will also contain offices, education
facilities, shops, a gym and a restaurant. The entire roof is taken up by 18
domes giving daylight to the spaces below.

The mosque with the prayer hall is turned towards Qibla whereas the street
level of the building and the annex follows the strict orthagonal layout of
Rinkeby. The annex will contain contains educational facilities, offices and
small commercial spaces. A generous staircase connects the street level with
the elevated terrace where the main entry is located.
